Praevium presented a new 850nm Tunable Vertical-Cavity laser (MEMS-VCSEL) at OSA’s Laser Congress: Advanced Solid-State Lasers, this November in Boston, MA. The device is intended for swept-source ophthalmic imaging, and thus features wide-bandwidth and high-speed tuning in ranges suitable for OCT imaging, and is electrically-pumped rather than optically-pumped.

Initial ophthalmic images were presented, acquired by the Byunkun Ben Lee and Dr. Ben Potsaid from MIT's Fujimoto Group and Thorlabs, respectively.
