Devin Leonard functioned as Principal Engineer at Praevium Research, Inc. from 2005-2008, leading technical efforts toward SLED products as well as laser-based spectrometry sources. Currently, he is involved with Praevium on an as-needed consulting basis. He earned a BS in Engineering and Applied Science from the CalTech in 1989, and a Ph.D. in Materials Science from University of California, Santa Barbara in 1995. His Ph.D. research in crystal growth of quantum dots led to a patent and several publications that have been cited more than 1000 times, as research in this area continues to flourish. Dr. Leonard has for 12 years made materials and packaging developments in many corporate settings including Intel, Raytheon, W.L. Gore and Associates, and Rockwell Scientific Company, which span the differences between research and manufacturing. Whether the final product was a military Infrared Focal Plane Array, a laser array or emitters for communications, or an operational improvement across product lines, Dr. Leonard continues to contribute significantly to his technological and corporate surroundings.
